With the article on proper website speed evaluation, I am supplementing the video titled \"How to properly evaluate your website's speed<\/a>\" which was created to teach you what these metrics mean and which ones you can improve yourself.<\/p>\n\n You will see all the measurements Google takes in summary.<\/p>\n\n Before we begin evaluating a website, let's analyze why a website needs to be fast, well-designed, and well-programmed.<\/p>\n\n A website that is well-designed and programmed offers a better user experience for the person visiting your website, i.e., the visitor.<\/p>\n\n It also counts in Google's results, meaning that due to a good user experience, it will rank significantly higher in search results, even on the first page, in the top positions.<\/p>\n\n For this reason, it is very important for the website to be of high quality.<\/p>\n\n Let's start evaluating the website chrisgoutzapps.com.<\/p>\n\n First, we open Google's PageSpeed<\/a> website and enter the website we want to measure in the field. In this case, I have already evaluated chrisgoutzapps.com.<\/p>\n\n Once the evaluation is complete, you will see that some performance, productivity, best practices, and SEO metrics for the website have appeared.<\/p>\n\n It should also be noted that the speed of completing the evaluation depends on how easy or difficult it is for Google to complete the assessment.<\/p>\n\n Let's briefly analyze what each measurement is individually in the video.<\/p>\n\n We start with performance, which is the most important aspect of the measurement we conducted.<\/p>\n\n As you can see, it displays a number, in this case 81, and an image next to it.<\/p>\n\n This specific measurement concerns mobile devices; further below, we will also analyze the measurement Google has made for computers.<\/p>\n\n Below, you will see some terminologies such as First Contentful Paint, Largest Contentful Paint, Total Blocking Time, and Cumulative Layout Shift. There is also one more in this specific measurement called Speed Index. <\/p>\n\n All measurements are important because they relate to how quickly the page loads under specific conditions. From a technical perspective, as website owners, you cannot make any changes; these measurements concern technical details. I will try to explain them as simply as possible below so that you can understand their significance. <\/p>\n\n Let's analyze in detail what each measurement means individually.<\/p>\n\n First Contentful Paint measures the time from when the page starts loading until any content from the page appears on the screen. For this measurement, by \"content,\" we mean either an image on the page or some text\u2014generally, whatever content the page has. <\/p>\n\n To make it a bit clearer, I will explain how a page loads in the browser. When a page loads, it doesn't load entirely instantly; it loads from left to right and from top to bottom. So, whatever is on the left side at the top of the page, as soon as it starts loading, the First Contentful Paint measurement begins. <\/p>\n\n Largest Contentful Paint is Google's second important metric and measures the time it takes for the largest part of the page's content to be rendered. In simple terms, from the moment the page starts loading until approximately the middle of the page, meaning how much time it took for the main part of the page to load. It measures how much time it takes for images and text content on the page to load. <\/p>\n\n Total Blocking Time measures how much time was spent between the First Contentful Paint and Time to Interactive measurements. Essentially, this measurement quantifies how long the main thread was blocked, meaning for how long content was not displayed. <\/p>\n\n Cumulative Layout Shift measures how many times the page layout has changed. To make it clearer, when there are additional codes within the page, for example, third-party advertisements, it often negatively affects page loading, and the text's position may suddenly shift while the user is reading it. <\/p>\n\n Speed Index measures how quickly the page content loads in the browser.
